Austin weather includes mild winters and hot summers, and the Austin climate is described by many as humid subtropical. The number of sunny days for the city varies from about 50 percent in the winter to nearly 75 percent in the summer. In the summer, daytime temperatures are hot, with highs over 90 degrees most of the time (about 80 percent). On occasion, cool fronts affect the area and drop overnight lows to the 50s.

Blogging is so hot right now on the internet.  Everyone is doing it and many are reaping the rewards from it.  Blogs are some of the best search engine fodder.

You see, blogs are great for search engines because they’re updated with fresh content every day.  They’re indexed often by Google, Yahoo, and MSN.  That one aspect of blogging could make it worth your wild to get started right away.

One of the best area’s that can advance from blogging are local businesses.  You might be wondering why and that’s exactly what I’m about to explain.  But before I get into some of those details please allow me to mention a few things that blogging does for your followers.

The most important thing blogging does for your followers and you is it builds trust.  As long as you post regularly and you are consistent with how you speak and the message you bring, people will get to know who you are and what you stand for.

After you build trust in people you can influence them in almost any direction.  Not in a devious way but in a good way.  Think about the last time you went to see a great movie and wanted to tell everyone about it.  When you told your friends, the people who trust you, they probably went to go see it almost right away.

Blogging works the same way.  You build a following.  You can build trust with them.  You can bring them value and make their lives better just by reading your blog.

Once you’ve begun building that relationship, during the process of posting regularly, you’re giving the search engines information and content to start ranking your blog.

This is especially good for local businesses.

Why?

Because there is much less overall competition when you’re only trying to compete locally.  And if you’ve done things right, gotten your business into a local city search directory and have started blogging specifically about your area, it’s possible for you to dominate your local search listings.

The other aspect of leveraging a blog is it gives you the ability to get testimonials about your product or service right there on your blog for everyone to see.  Not only can you start ranking for your businesses in your area but when people search they may even get the opportunity to see what others have said about you.

This can be a double edged sword for shady businesses.  But the bottom line is, if you’re legit and are truly trying to do what you can to succeed especially during these tough times, you could make a name for yourself.

If you own a local business that needs a jump start just before the economy really starts drowning then I would consider a few things.  Lower your marketing costs, get in a local city search directory such as Directory of Austin, and start blogging.
